LOLLIPOT is a playful reinvention of nostalgic ice lolly moulds, transformed into a vibrant pen pot stand. Inspired by Michael Marriott’s web shop Wood Metal Plastic, this project celebrates the joy of repurposing and the charm of everyday objects. Colours come in Raspberry Red, Bubblegum Blue, and Lemon Yellow, drawing inspiration from NESTLÉ Fab lollies, adding a touch of childhood nostalgia.
Josh began this project with the goal of creating a small, cleverly manufactured and accessory that carried a meaningful story. While exploring ideas, he rediscovered an old ice lolly mould tucked away in the back of his family kitchen cupboard, untouched since childhood. This forgotten object sparked the concept of transforming a childhood memory into a practical tool for creative work today. What began as a vessel for frozen treats became a symbol of continuity, growing from making ice lollies as a child to using those same moulds to hold pens as a designer.
The manufacturing of this design involved a blend of traditional and hands-on techniques. The aluminium frame was plasma-cut to fit the moulds precisely, then bent using a Swiss bender to achieve the correct angle. Finally, the frame was spray-painted in cheerful inspired colours breathing new life into a long-forgotten object.
